The Samaritan Inn is proud to be part of the global Light the World Giving Machine initiative during the 2023 holiday season. The Giving Machines will be at McKinney Town Square, Dec. 19 – Jan. 1.
The Giving Machines provide a family-friendly, fun and easy way to help our community’s most vulnerable. The large, red “vending machines” work in reverse, creating a memorable way to give to those in need during the Christmas season with a simple swipe of a credit card amid holiday festivities.
What Is a Giving Machine?
It’s a machine that allows you to donate to a local or global charity in a simple, fun way. It’s as easy as buying a candy bar, but more meaningful as you get to feel the joy of giving to others.
During the Christmas season, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints invites people everywhere to light the world by lifting and serving others in small and simple ways.
One unique, fun, and memorable aspect of the Light the World initiative is the popular Giving Machines. These customized vending machines allow the public to donate necessary products and services to those in need worldwide. Giving Machine items often include food, clean water, medical care, clothing, education support, hygiene kits, and even livestock, such as chickens, goats, pigs, and beehives.
One hundred percent of every donation will be given to the eight local charities, including Samaritan Inn, and two global charities. for the purchased items on our cards. This happens because The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints covers all Giving Machine operating costs.
